Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network is a not-for-profit organization that serves as the federally designated agency that coordinates organ and tissue donation and supports families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana. Their Elmhurst offices needed to expand to meet the growing need of their network. Gift of hope purchased a two storey 78,000 square foot office building in Itasca which was well suited for this adaptive reuse.

The first level of the building has a surgical suite with three operating rooms for tissue and organ acquisition, tissue and organ holding areas, sterilization and equipment storage for both on site and remote procedures.

A receiving garage addition was added for weather protection during transfers to and from vehicles along with a morgue area for incoming donations. This level also has a full laboratory for testing, matching, sampling and other needs.

The second level includes the corporate offices, multiple training and meeting rooms with collaborative areas where staff team members can converse on individual or group projects. Unassigned areas were included in the program on both floors to accommodate future internal growth.
