The New Lenox Medical Center was created by Silver Cross Hospital to provide outpatient medical services for a nearby community. The building is constructed on a site donated by an adjacent resident of the community. The donor requested a building to be designed with a residential character and to be located in a way which would not diminish the existing views from the donors residence.
The exterior finishes include face brick wall with aluminum windows and sloping asphalt shingle roofs. The entry is covered with a large drive thru roofed area. A landscaped terrace provides independent access to one section of the building.
The plan is centered around a large registration and office area with an adjacent waiting area and community room. There are two wings of exam rooms with x ray, lab and other diagnostic services centered between the wings.
Interior finishes include carpet and ceramic floors, vinyl wall coverings and acoustical tile ceilings. Large glass areas provide excellent natural light and together with careful color selection of the finishes, a pleasant environment is created for both staff and patients.
